Day 2 - Installation of Speakers
My amp came in today as well, but I didn't get a chance to install it.
You'll see more about it tomorrow (it's very pretty as well). Today,
I went through the process of replacing my old 80w 10" Pioneer home
theater woofers with my Pyle PLW10BL's. I went ahead and hooked them
up to my receiver, unamplified, for testing (and they sound great). Clicking on the preview pictures will load the Medium-size
picture.

My old speakers are kinda cute, aren't they? They
are 10" 80w Pioneer paper cone woofers, and it's about time to lay down
the funk and replace them. |
Ignoring the western playing in the background, you can see a shot of my
old woofers sitting on the side of the boxes--lined up and ready to be
replaced. |

Here's a blurry overexposed close-up of the wiring on my
old woofers. Fortunately, this was soon to change. |
You can see that the woofers have just been swapped out, and they're ready
for some serious pounding. Thankfully, these speakers like a lot of
space in a sealed box (over 2 cubic feet!), so I didn't have to install a
separator. The connectors are on the bottom for the woofers, and the
top speakers now have their own cords coming out of the back so they don't
blow up. They'll be hooked directly to the receiver instead of the
amp. |

Much prettier standing up, yes? |
Back to their drab old appearance! At least they sound
better! I still had a good time blasting them with just the
receiver, but I'll have to install the amp to sync up the audio levels of
my other speakers with these new monster rockers. |
